Textile Art

I began needle felting in 2013 and rapidly worked to improve and learn the techniques to create pieces that people can relate to on different levels. My aim is to convey more than just the work itself – an essence, a reverence or simply a joy in beauty. Using textiles and especially wool as an artistic medium, is an absolute joy to me. I love its versatility and the possibilities it creates to bring a piece into being gradually. It is a relational process and one that connects me as the creator with the subject and the commissioner.

Christian Artwork

Being a Christian myself, I especially enjoy working on images that have been 'God inspired'. Best known for Peace in the Valley which is in various private collections, listed in the Chia awards and has been created 7 times in response to demand, I never tire of creating new pieces in this category as they both inspire and bless myself and others on a level that goes beyond the artwork itself.

Animal Portraiture

I have always loved depicting birds and wildlife since a very early age. This has led me to capture many peoples’ pets in artwork. Whether in 2D watercolour pencil, pastel, oils or 3D textiles, it is always a labour of love to bring to life an animal in any creation so that their character and beauty shine through.

Silver Jewellery

I have designed and made jewellery in silver for over 25yrs and enjoy working on commissions and individual pieces that stand the test of time. I especially like making silver crosses and work closely to design something that reflects your individual taste, character and purposes. Each one is individually designed and hand made from scratch by myself.

Bespoke Jewellery

Joan makes a range of bespoke jewellery using individually hand crafted beads and up-cycled jewellery. She can incorporate existing jewellery and re-vamp it to fit with your chosen outfit, or colour scheme, or design and make something completely from scratch making it a unique item that can't be found anywhere else and is made especially for you. Calligraphy

Words are so powerful. They can hurt or heal. Why not give a word pebble to inspire and bless, or transform a space with a word on your wall. Perhaps you have a favourite poem, phrase or verse? Joan can hand write it and illustrate it to make a unique piece to bless and inspire you daily.

Music

Music is a big part of Joan's life, and she has sung and played the guitar for over 30yrs. She is a worship leader at Brixington Community Church and regularly entertains in local nursing homes and events.

No Room For Fear is an acoustic CD album written, performed and produced by Joan in direct response to a vision that she had about 5yrs ago to expand arts and crafts activities for the learning disabled. Having worked for a Christian charity organizing and enabling arts and crafts activities with young adults with learning disabilities for over 5yrs, the cause is close to Joan's heart as she has witnessed first hand how confidence and concentration levels are increased through creativity.

Albums are £10 each + p&p(£1), and include a lyric booklet, or £8 + p&p(£1) on their own. All proceeds from the CD go to raising funds.
